Unit Three Blog Entry

One of the topics I considered for my paper that I eventually discarded was arguing for the uniform legalization and regulation of surrogacy at the federal level. The problem many IPs (Intended Parents) and surrogates face currently is the vastly different laws from state to state, and in many states, the laws are ambiguous at best. They vary from California, which will allow even a single gay man to enter a surrogacy contract and have his name placed directly on the birth certificate, and the surrogate's name removed, to New York, which flat out prohibits surrogacy for anyone at all. I think it would solve many of the issues, including surrogates attempting to keep a baby not even genetically related to them, by having uniform laws to apply to surrogacy contracts.
